How fast will my vision recover?

Following LASIK, most can see within 5 hours! Most patients will perceive tremendous improvement by the next morning. The day after LASIK, most are 20/40 passing their driver’s test drive and returning to work and daily activities. The best vision 20/20 is within 1-2 months. Visual recovery is slower after PRK, and functional vision is achieved after 3 to 5 days, after which point the recovery continues on a daily basis over the following weeks. Can I have both eyes treated the same day?

Because intraoperative complications are less than 1-2%, most patients have both eyes treated the same day. The majority of our patients have both eyes treated the same day for added convenience, quicker visual recovery, and less time away from work. However, the preference of our patients will guide us in the treatment plan.

Is the procedure painless?

The LASIK procedure is painless using numbing eyedrops for surgery. After LASIK, one may experience mild irritation for 3 to 5 hours relieved with eye closure during that time. After 3 to 5 hours the eyes feel normal and visual recovery is rapid at that time with most patients resuming their activities.

How safe is LASIK?

The best candidates for LASIKare from at least 18 years of age up to older patients with no evidence of cataracts or retina disease, one in good health, and a stable prescription for one year.
